So, hi. My name is Dale and I really like TV and Movies and sometimes random crap on the internet. I also live in Melbourne, Australia, which is really annoying because it means a lot of stuff comes out here ages after it already has in the States. Or just not at all, either I can’t find the right theatres or there’s a lot of stuff that doesn’t make it over here.

You may have guessed, but this blog is pretty much about TV, movies, and sometimes random crap on the internet.

I’m 17, and yeah, I know the stereotypes of teenagers with blogs. I promise not to write crappy emo poetry or angst about my life or anything, ‘kay? I’ll even try and use my brain on a fairly regular basis, and back my opinions up.

My favourite movie genre is horror, although I still need to catch up and see a lot of the classics. The level of tension in a horror movie is pretty awesome, and it’s cool to see how the direction makes everything creepy. And you can get some great human drama in horror, seeing what effect the situation has on people and their relationships with other people. Jim in 28 Days Later, for example.

Everything I just wrote only applies to the good stuff, mind you. Pieces of shit like… well, the majority of mainstream horrors put out this decade, I don’t like them just for being horror, and they usually don’t have what I do like about the good works of the genre.

My very favourite movie is a low budget British flick called The Descent. It’s about six women who are really into extreme sports, and they get together to go on a caving trip, and of course things keep going wrong down there. And then just when it seems things can’t get much worse, they do. It is a horror, so three guesses how. Also, the main character is having a few problems with sanity. It’s really one of those “watch it a few times,” movies, because the first time it’s hard to tell who’s who in the dark, many important plotpoints are just implied or only alluded to once, and it’s difficult to get a feel for what’s going on with the characters without noticing a lot of the little things.

Some other favourites are Slither, Pan’s Labyrinth, Amelie, 28 Days Later, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Carrie, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Serenity, Wall-E and Sunshine.

My favourite TV show is Firefly. There’s a tight-knit bunch of smugglers on a run-down spaceship, trying to avoid being arrested or killed. There’s also Pushing Daisies, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, LOST, How I Met Your Mother, Garth Merenghi’s Darkplace, Doctor Who, Supernatural, Invader Zim, Daria and Ghost Whisperer, because it’s a ridiculously sappy show with a Mary Sue protagonist who is bloody stupid and wears heaps of horrible clothing. It makes a great comedy.

YAY back, glad you found it. Love you too.

Hey, I got to see that movie I showed you the trailer for, The Wrestler. It was pretty awesome, although not so touchy-feely and Rocky-like as they made it look. That was good though, I like that they subverted it.
